The Burford Co-op Preschool & Children’s Centre offers a fun, creative, and educational program for children aged infant to 11. Daily learning circles, music circles, outdoor play, story times, and creative art are part of every day. The focus of the Preschool Program is on early learning and JK readiness, including colour, number, letter and simple word recognition. Pre-writing and writing skills are also introduced. The Preschool offers the children many learning centres with unique and creative play opportunities. A balance of active and quiet play, and group and free choice activities are available every day. The Before and After School Program began in October 2007. Structured and unstructured activities are part of each day in an environment specific to School-Age children

Our Changing Preschool

The Burford Co-op Preschool relocated in March 2009 in order to expand its’ services to include full-time Child Care spaces. The Preschool was formerly located at 120 King Street, in Burford, and is now located at 11 Mill Street, Mount Vernon, just outside of Brantford. The Centre is now able to accommodate 6 infants, 15 toddlers, 32 preschoolers, and 25 School-age children.

The Burford Co-op Preschool has been in business since 1974. It is a non-profit, charitable organization. It operated as a co-operative Nursery School with one qualified Early Childhood Educator and two “Duty Parents” running the Preschool on a daily basis, until 2007. In September 2007, a new format was adopted, which eliminated "Parent Duty Days" and two qualified Early Childhood Educators ran the programs each day. This change was due to parental demand. On October 1st, 2007, a Before & After School program for JK/SK children was offered, and December 2007, the program expanded to include 15 Before and After School aged spaces for children up to 11 years of age.

In addition to the Before and After School Age Program, full-time Camp Days are offered to School-Age children on days that elementary schools are closed. This includes P.A. Days, Snow Days, March Break, Christmas Break, and summer holidays. Busses, to and from both elementary schools in Burford, are able to pick up and drop off the School-Age children throughout the school year.
